SINGAPORE MARITIME WEEK CENTERPIECE
Creative Direction / Content Strategy / 3D Animation / Motion Graphics / Multi-screen Event Production
THE CHALLENGE_
Hullbot needed to present a new iteration of their autonomous hull cleaning robot at Singapore Maritime Week, their most important industry event.
They faced a fundamental problem: most operators manage hull fouling reactively and don't grasp the severity of early-stage fouling, or why cleaning sooner and more regularly is valuable. The slime layer Hullbot's system solves is largely invisible to the naked eye, so there is little to point to before the problem has already become costly.
Hullbot's product is a system with multiple components and operating stages. Explaining it had previously required lengthy conversations with risk of confusion. Visitors needed to be able to understand it at a glance.
They had to surface what operators had never needed to see, build the case for acting early, and make a technically complex system immediately legible, in a crowded expo hall without relying on staff to explain it from scratch.
Future Perfect Digital shaped the communication approach from the outset.
MAKING THE INVISIBLE VISIBLE_
Showing the hull as it appears to the human eye would not solve the problem. An early attempt used a thin, turbulent smoke simulation to suggest biological growth on the surface. We decided against this approach. For a conservative technical audience, operators might read it literally, reject the premise and disengage entirely.
The breakthrough was to show what the robot sees.
Below the waterline, the hull becomes a grid of coloured cubes, each representing a detected instance of fouling identified by the AI vision system. As the robot moves, the cubes are cleaned away.
The animation divides into two distinct visual worlds. Above water is warm and light, shot at a diorama scale. Below water is dark and digital. The shift between them separates the physical world from the computer vision layer without requiring explanation.
This shifted the story from cleaning a surface to making invisible data visible.
THE SOLUTION_
Overhead: Panoramic 3D animation
A three-screen LED display at 5760x1080, designed to stop viewers at a distance in a crowded hall.
- 90-second seamless loop, built to reward repeat viewing
- Large-scale scenes to establish context, combined with tight detail of the cleaning process
- Clear visual transition between the above-water world and the below-water AI perception layer
- Silent and readable at a distance
Kiosk: Synchronised explanation interface
A second screen positioned for engaged viewers and staff-led conversations.
- Abstracted UI showing fleet data, system behaviour and real-world footage
- Fully synchronised with the overhead animation
- Every moment above is reflected below, allowing staff to point to and explain specific stages
- The system runs continuously without operator input, functioning as an active sales tool when staff are present.
RESULT_
Delivered on schedule for Singapore Maritime Week 2026, 20–24 April. Hullbot described the assets as the centrepiece of their stand and the foundation of how they'll present to market going forward.
What began as an event installation is now the foundation of their product communication.

"Working with Future Perfect to launch our new product was an exceptional experience. Buzzby and Andrew were the definition of professional, taking our vision and turning it into a stunning explanation video and event centrepiece.
They were extremely responsive and made the entire creative process seamless and stress-free.
The final assets were the highlight of our event stand, and we will definitely be working with them again on future projects."
