SAVIC MOTORCYCLES VIRTUAL SHOWROOM

THE CHALLENGE_

Savic needed to sell a premium electric motorcycle before a single physical bike existed. We've been building the tools that make it possible ever since.

FPD approached Savic after seeing a promising product behind a weak, self-built website. At the time, they had no physical bikes available for customers to see, almost no sales infrastructure, and a product that was still being finalised during development — with CAD files being updated as we built.

From the start, the configurator had to function as their entire sales process. It needed to handle everything from first discovery through to pre-order purchase, work without installation on any device, and operate reliably unattended as a kiosk at expos and events. It also needed to look credible enough to close sales on a product customers couldn't touch.

A PIPELINE BUILT FOR A MOVING TARGET_

One of the central technical challenges was that the motorcycle's CAD files were being updated throughout the build. We developed a production pipeline that takes those files, adds high-fidelity lighting and shadows, dramatically reduces file size and retains surface quality and detail throughout. Any update to the product could be turned around and reflected in the configurator quickly without sacrificing visual quality.

This pipeline has since become one of FPD's core production processes and is used across projects beyond Savic.

WHAT WE BUILT_

A real-time 3D motorcycle builder and virtual showroom, engineered from the ground up for performance and built with Savic's brand identity running through every interaction.

Customers configure their motorcycle in full 3D (colour, finish, accessories) and see every change reflected instantly. The experience runs across all devices with no download or installation required.

Behind the experience, a multi-tiered lead capture system collects customer data at each stage of engagement, feeding directly into HubSpot CRM and Google Analytics. Stripe handles purchase and deposit transactions within the same flow.

When a customer completes their configuration, the configurator camera moves to a predefined angle and captures a screenshot. That image is used to generate a personalised SendGrid email brochure. Rendered images of their exact motorcycle with product copy and specifications tailored to the options they chose. Every brochure is unique to that customer's build.

THE KIOSK_

A separate kiosk version of the configurator runs on large touchscreens at expos and demo ride days. It shares the same core as the web configurator, so any update to the motorcycle or available options is reflected automatically in both.

The kiosk does not allow payment entry or navigation away from the page, and leads are captured in a separate HubSpot funnel tagged as kiosk-originating.

RESULT_

2 minutes 17 seconds average time on the configurator page alone.

Every configuration was available for purchase from launch in March 2021, nearly three years before the first bikes were delivered in February 2024. Pre-orders were taken and fulfilled entirely through the configurator.

Dennis Savic

"Before we even had physical bikes to show, we were already closing sales using the 3D configurator. It gave customers the confidence to explore, customise, and pre-order in a fully immersive way.

For us, it's the backbone of our direct-to-consumer model. Everything from product exploration to purchase runs through a single, unified channel. It's streamlined, scalable, and completely transformed how we sell."
